Taxonomic CommentsAs treated here following Weakley et al. (2024), Cleistesiopsis divaricata excludes plants in the East Gulf Coast Coastal Plain. "Reports (of C. divaricata) from the East Gulf Coastal Plain (west of northeast Florida) are based on C. oricamporum" (Weakley et al. 2024). C. oricamporum and C. divaricata are phenologically separated where they co-occur (Weakley et al. 2024). Kartesz (1994, 1999) pre-dates the description of Cleistesiopsis oricamporum and recognized a broader concept of Cleistes divaricata.
