Taxonomic CommentsBased on phylogenomic analyses, Stout et al. (2022) place this species in the genus Alburnops. This genus change is accepted by Page et al. (2023).

Range Extent CommentsCoosa and Tallapoosa river systems (Mobile Bay drainage), above Fall Line, southeastern Tennessee, northwestern Georgia, and eastern Alabama; common (Page and Burr 1991). One apparently introduced population in Chestatee River (Chattahoochee River drainage), Georgia (Page and Burr 1991).
