Rank ReasonsPilophorus clavatus seems to be scattered throughout the western coast of North America and Japan with one occurrence along the Bering Strait. Its global distribution is seemingly limited and the known collections of this species were reported from the coast. However, no information was found on local abundance.
Range Extent CommentsPilophorus clavatus is found along the west coast of North America extending north to the coast of British Columbia and Washington. P. clavatus is also found throughout Japan and at one site on the Asiatic side of the Bering Strait. Jahns (1981) comments that it is surprising that this species has not been found in northern Alaska.
Ecology & Habitat
Habitat
No information found on habitat; however, the distribution map provided by Jahns (1981) indicates that all collections of Pilophorus clavatus were made in coastal areas.
