Habitat

This species occurs in soil that is moderately to highly calcareous loam or sandy loam, and may stone-free to very stony and gravelly. Habitats are moderately to strongly eroded slopes and crests of steep hills, as well as occasionally gravel banks along creeks and rivers (Looman, 1974).
