Ranunculus rhomboideus is widespread across Canada and the northern United States (Kartesz 1999). It occurs in disturbed and undisturbed prairies as well as occasionally in open woods (Herkert 1991, FNA 1997). It is scattered across the central portion of its range (Van Brugen 1976).
Range Extent Comments
From Mackenzie and British Columbia to Quebec south to Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Illinois, and Michigan. Also in Massachusetts (Kartesz 1999). No modern specimens have been seen from the Northeast (FNA 1997).
Threat Impact Comments
Populations in Ontario may be threatened by reforestation (Williams 1984).
