Taxonomic CommentsThis record is for the broad treatment of Campanula rotundifolia including Campanula alaskana, C. gieseckeana, C. intercedens, and C. petiolata as recognized in Kartesz (1999). Lammers (2007) treats these as species, distinct from C. rotundifolia sensu lato. According to Lammers, the narrowly recognized C. rotundifolia is of Europe. Shetler's (1982) detailed morphological and ecological analysis of the C. rotundifolia group in North America concluded that only a single species should be recognized, but he did recognize four "races" (without formal taxonomic rank or names) that align with the four native North American species recognized by Lammers (2007).
