Taxonomic Comments
Sorrie (2016) recognizes Diodia harperi and Diodia virginiana as distinct species (with no infrataxa recognized within D. virginiana). Diodia harperi "differs in several morphological characters, most notably its shorter and narrower capsules, shorter corolla tubes, and shorter leaves" (Sorrie 2016). In contrast, Kartesz (1994, 1999) recognized Diodia virginiana with 3 varieties: var. virginiana (including D. harperi), var. attenuata, and var. latifolia.
