Rank Reasons
Roundleaf Thoroughwort (Eupatorium rotundifolium) occurs in the southeastern United States as far west as Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, extending north into New England. Range extent was estimated to be 2.2 million square kilometers, and there are about 1300 occurrences, including on various National Forests, State Forests, State Parks, and other conservation lands. Residential development and lack of fire are threats.
Range Extent Comments
Roundleaf Thoroughwort (Eupatorium rotundifolium) occurs in the southeastern United States as far west as Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, extending north into New England. Range extent was estimated to be 2.2 million square kilometers using herbarium specimens and photo-based observations documented between 1993 and 2024 (GBIF 2024, iNaturalist 2024, Weakley and Southeastern Flora Team 2023).
Occurrences Comments
By applying a 1 km separation distance to herbarium records and photo-based observations documented between 1993 and 2024, it is estimated that there are about 1300 occurrences of Roundleaf Thoroughwort (Eupatorium rotundifolium) rangewide (GBIF 2024, iNaturalist 2024).
Threat Impact Comments
Residential development and lack of fire are threats.
