Taxonomic CommentsEsslinger (2004, 2018) transfers Cladina stygia to Cladonia stygia; these represent the same concept for the element. Stable; closely related to the more widespread Cladina rangiferina. see Ahti and Hyvonen. 1985. Ann. Bot. Fennici 22:223, and Ahti, T. 1984 Beih. Nova Hedwigia 79:25-61.
