Taxonomic Comments
Davydov et al. (2017) found no phylogenetic basis for maintaining Lasallia as a separate genus from Umbilicaria, and propose a classification of Umbilicariaceae s.str. with eight subgenera in the only genus Umbilicaria.

This lichen species grows on rock ledges, outcrops, and boulders. It occurs from New England southward in the mountains and foothills of Georgia and Alabama (Flenniken 1999).
