Taxonomic CommentsAccording to Esslinger online checklist (2011), Caloplaca irrubescens and C. modesta are included in the broad concept of C. subsoluta. C. irrubescens and C. modesta were recognized as distinct species in Esslinger and Egan (1995). Esslinger (2018) follows this concept and transfers to Squamulea subsoluta.
