Taxonomic Comments
This record is for a broad treatment of Iris setosa, including I. setosa var. canadensis, as recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999). FNA (vol. 26, 2002) recognizes Iris setosa as a more narrow species, occurring in North America only in British Columbia, Yukon, and Alaska, elevating I. setosa var. canadensis, occurring in northeastern North America, to I. hookeri. Kartesz also recognizes Iris setosa var. interior which is not mentioned in the FNA treatment.
