Taxonomic Comments
This record is for Carya ovata in the narrow sense recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999) and Weakley et al. (2023), which excludes C. carolinae-septentrionalis as a distinct species. FNA (vol. 3, 1997) recognizes two varieties (australis and ovata), which includes Carya carolinae-septentrionalis (= C. ovata var. australis) as a variety of C. ovata. Therefore C. ovata in the sense recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999) is equivalent to FNA's C. ovata var. ovata.
