Taxonomic Comments
Following the treatment in Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2016), this concept of Parnassia palustris includes P. californica, which was recognized as a distinct species in Kartesz (1994, 1999). This concept excludes P. parviflora which FNA recognizes as a distinct species. In addition, this concept includes P. palustris ssp./var. neogaea material which was recognized as the distinct species P. multiseta in Kartesz (1994) and was included in P. palustris var. tenuis in Kartesz (1999). FNA's P. palustris also includes P. palustris var. montanensis but does not recognize it as a distinct variety. In contrast Kartesz (1994, 1999) did distinguish P. palustris var. montanensis.
