Esslinger (2014) elevates Parmelia omphalodes ssp. pinnatifida (= P. pinnatifida) to full species level, therefore according to (Esllinger 2014), Esslinger and Egan's (1995) P. omphalodes ssp. omphalodes here is equivalent to P. omphalodes.
