This record is for Euphorbia commutata in the narrow sense, excluding Euphorbia ouachitana as recognized by Mayfield (2013) and Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2016), distinct from E. commutata most prominently by life span and seed morphology; many specimens identified as E. commutata are E. ouachitana.
