Includes var. erecta as a synonym (Kartesz 1999, following G. Argus); it was considered distinct in Hitchcock et al. (1964) and Hitchcock and Cronquist (1974). FNA (vol. 7, 2010) does not recognize any varieties in Salix vestita.
