Taxonomic Comments
Kartesz (1994 and 1999) includes Yucca flaccida in Y. filamentosa. FNA (vol. 26, 2002) treats them as distinct, but suggests that Y. flaccida should possibly be considered a variety of Y. filamentosa. The FNA treatment is more broad than the treatment followed by Weakley (Nov. 2012 draft), further including Y. louisianensis and Y. smalliana; Weakley states that whether or not the taxon is valid is not clear and needs research.
