Taxonomic Comments

This record represents the narrow concept of Kalmia angustifolia following Kartesz (1994) and Weakley et al. (2025), that does not include K. carolina. In contrast, FNA (vol. 8, 2009) recognizes a broad concept of K. angustifolia with two varieties distinguished: K. angustifolia var. angustifolia (=K. angustifolia as treated by Weakley et al. 2025) and K. angustifolia var. carolina.
