Cladina evansii has an eastern North American distribution with extensions into the Neotropics (Ahti 2000). It grows on open ground, or slightly shaded and often sandy areas along the Atlantic and Gulf coastal plains (Brodo 2001). It is also found in the Bahama Archipelago and Cuba, often in pine woodlands (Ahti 2000).
