Taxonomic Comments
As treated here (following Kartesz, 1999 floristic synthesis), excludes the rare and possibly extinct species Astilbe crenatiloba, sometimes included here. FNA (vol. 8, 2009) includes A. crenatiloba in A. biternata, suggesting it may be a local variant.
