In North America, it is reported from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia (Perlmutter 2006). It is also reported from the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Australia/Oceania, the Galapagos Islands, and the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean northward into the Japanese Archipelago (Eriksson 1992; Weber 1993; Thor & Kashiwadani 1996; Seward & Aptroot 2002 cited by Perlmutter 2006).
