The Flora of North America (vol. 12 2016) and Kartesz (1999) expand the concept of Euphorbia brachycera to include E. odontadenia and E. robusta, while Kearney and Peebles (1951), Martin and Hutchins (1980, and Kartesz (1994) treats them as distinct.
