Taxonomic CommentsThis record represents the narrow concept of Lomatium grayi following Alexander et al. (2018) and FNA (vol. 13, 2024). Alexander et al. (2018) revised the Lomatium grayi complex, where they split L. papilioniferum and L. klickitatense from L. grayi var. grayi and elevate L. grayi var. depauperatum (= L. depauperatum) to species level. L. papilioniferum is proposed for plants in California, western Idaho, northern Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. L. klickitatense is proposed for populations of robust plants from western Klickitat County, Washington, and northern Hood River County, Oregon. In contrast, Kartesz (1994) treated L. grayi in a broad sense with two varieties distinguished: L. grayi var. depauperatum and L. grayi var. grayi.
