Found in damp ground in montaine forest habitats from the Cascades in southern Oregon to the Sierra Nevada in Fresno County, California. Reported as rare in Washoe County, Nevada at high elevations (Kartesz 1988).
Range Extent Comments
Ranging from Mackenzie Pass, Oregon (Hitchcock and Cronquist 1973) south through Jackson and Josephine Counties (Peck 1961) and into California in the Sierra Nevada from Siskiyou and Humboldt Counties to Plumas County and to Fresno County (Munz 1959). Also reported by Kartesz (1988) in Washoe County, Nevada.

Rare in Nevada (Kartesz 1988).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Occurs in mountain meadows, and yellow pine, red fir, lodgepole pine forests (Munz 1959) as well as in marshes and on streambanks; 600-3000 meters (Hickman 1993).
