Taxonomic Comments

IDHP recognizes now (as per communication from Bob Moseley, July 31 1995) that Primula wilcoxiana is a valid taxon (never formally published and determined 3B by USFWS) and it is distinct from P. cusickiana. Holmgren (2005) and FNA (vol. 8, 2009) here include Primula nevadensis (= P. cusickiana var. nevadensis), P. domensis (= P. cusickiana var. domensis), and P. maguirei (= P. cusickiana var. maguirei) as varieties of P. cusickiana, while Kartesz (1994) treats them as full distinct species. Therefore according to FNA, Kartesz's (1994) P. cusickiana is equivalent to P. cusickiana var. cusickiana.
