Taxonomic Comments
Potentilla johnstonii was published by Sojak in 2006. Previously, it had been called Potentilla concinna var. curvata by B.C. Johnston. "According to Art. 29 of the Code 2000, Johnston did not publish this name effectively in 1984" (Sojak 2006). Kartesz (1999) does not mention Potentilla concinna var. curvata.

Pinyon-Juniper forest with Artemisia tridentata, Cercocarpus ledifolius, on rocky north-facing slopes (EO data in the NatureServe central database as of February 2015). Elevation of 2073 to 2313 m (Nevada Natural Heritage Program).
