Taxonomic Comments

The treatment of Erysimum asperum in Kartesz (1994) excluded E. asperum var. angustatum (Rydb.) Boivin, including it in E. capitatum var. capitatum. Kartesz (1999) included all of Erysimum asperum in E. capitatum. FNA (2010, vol. 7) accepts E. asperum as distinct and possibly with the same circumscription; it is possible that previous reports of E. asperum from places outside the range documented in FNA are misidentifications.
