Taxonomic Comments
Considered to be comprised of two subspecies (Kartesz 1999; OR NHP 3/1998). Recognized as a distinct species by Kartesz (1999), Peck (1961), St. John (1963), Douglas et al. (1990), and C.P. Smith in Abrams (1944); cf. Munz (1959). Treated as L. polyphyllus var. burkei in Isely (1998), Hickman (1993), Barneby (1989), and Hitchcock et al. (1961); cf. Kartesz (1988).
