Found on rocky, conifer dominant slopes from 3000 to 6000 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California and extending into western Nevada at higher elevations, up to 10000 feet. Abundance is not known.
Range Extent Comments
Sierra Nevada Mountains, California (Inyo to Shasta Counties (Munz 1959). Also in western Nevada ranging from Washoe County to Esmerelda County (Kartesz 1988).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Open wooded slopes, yellow pine forest to lodgepole pine forest, 3000-6000 feet (Munz 1959). Kartesz (1988) lists Nevada habitat as moist, open to dry habitats on rocky slopes within red fir and subalpine forests from 6000 to 10000 feet.
