Taxonomic Comments
This record is for a broad treatment of Baccharis glutinosa Pers., including B. douglasii as recognized in Müller (2006) and by Bogler (2012) in the Jepson Flora Project. Sundberg and Bogler in FNA (2006, vol. 20) have separate, almost identical entries for both names, however, B. douglasii is listed as a synonym in the entry for B. glutinosa and is not listed in the key. Kartesz (1994, 1999) recognized only B. douglasii DC. for the U.S. The two are listed as distinct species by de Candolle (1836, p. 400 and 404) in the publication in which B. douglasii was first described.
