Total estimated number of occurrences are about 456. 190 for Calochortus longebarbatus var. l. in Oregon and 86 in California; about 180 for C.l. var. p. (only occurs in Oregon).

Grazing appears to be a concern as noted from numerous federal agency botanists.

Grassy meadows, along intermittent drainages in openings in Pinus ponderosa forests.
