Taxonomic Comments
Arabis platysperma, as accepted by Rollins (1993) and Kartesz (1994 and 1999), included the variety A. platysperma var. howellii. Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2006) describe that variety as a species, Boechera howellii, distinct from B. platysperma. Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2007a) additionally distinguish some collections previously identified as B. platysperma as a distinct species, B. elkoensis. Thus, this treatment of B. platysperma, as accepted by FNA (2010, vol. 7), is more narrow than A. platysperma var. platysperma sensu Rollins (1993) and Kartesz (1994, 1999).
