Taxonomic Comments
This record is for the broad treatment of Houstonia purpurea as recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999) which accept three varieties: var. calycosa, var. montana, and var. purpurea. Weakley et al. (2023) accepts these as distinct species: Houstonia lanceolata (=H. purpurea var. calycosa), H. montana, and H. purpurea sensu stricto.
