Rank Reasons
Ceanothus fendleri is a wide ranging evergreen shrub occurring across much of the western United States and central Mexico. With a large range extent, over 800 occurrences, and broad habitat preferences, this species is considered secure.
Range Extent Comments
Ceanothus fendleri occurs in the western United States and central and north central Mexico, from western South Dakota, southeastern Wyoming, and northern Utah south to Nuevo Leon and Aguascalientes (FNA 2016). Range extent was estimated using herbarium specimens and photo-based observations documented between 1982 and 2023 (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, SEINet 2023).
Occurrences Comments
By applying a 1 km separation distance to herbarium records and photo-based observations documented between 1982 and 2023, it is estimated that there are over 800 occurrences rangewide (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, SEINet 2023).
