Gaylussacia dumosa in the narrow sense of Sorrie and Weakley (2007) and FNA (vol. 8, 2009), excluding bigeloviana and orocola material; Sorrie and Weakley (2007) recognize these taxa as the distinct species G. bigeloviana and G. orocola.
