Range Extent Comments
In North America ranges from the arctic-subarctic to the north temperate zone as far south as northern Georgia in the east and New Mexico and Arizona in the west (Zehr 1980). This species is widespread from Greenland to Alaska, south to California, east to the Great Lakes and New England, and south to West Virginia, Kentucky, and Georgia. It is also widespread in Great Britain, Europe, northern Africa, northern Asia, and Japan (Stotler and Crandall-Stotler 2017).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Occurs in habitats which have low vapor pressure deficits and is usually found in or near bordering streams, although it is certainly not restricted to this (Zehr 1980).
