Range Extent Comments
Lava aster occurs at scattered locations throughout a large portion of the low elevation of the northern range of Yellostone. It is believed that lava aster continues all the way to the Lamar Valley in the drier sagebrush areas, though the only specimen in YELLO outside of the Mammoth area is near Tower. Blooming period is from late May to early July.
