Taxonomic Comments
This record represents Senega (Polygala) cruciata in the narrow sense, not including Senega (Polygala) aquilonia following Pastore et al. (2023). In contrast, Kartesz (1994) and FNA (vol. 10, 2021) treated Polygala cruciata in a broad sense including Polygala aquilonia. Kartesz (1994) distinguished varieties P. cruciata var. aquilonia and P. cruciata var. cruciata while FNA (vol. 10, 2021) did not distinguish infrataxa.

Change Date2000-10-22
Threat Impact Comments
Highly threatened by land-use conversion, habitat fragmentation, and to a lesser degree by forest management practices; intensive site preparation probably detrimentally affects this species. (Southern Appalachian Species Viability Project 2002).
