Taxonomic Comments
Botrychium rubellum is published as a new species by Stensvold and Farrar (2024). Following Stensvold and Farrar (2024), B. lanceolatum var. lanceolatum is split into two species, with the green genotype retaining the name B. lanceolatum. B. rubellum, the red genotype has an orange-red to red common stalk, especially below the trophophore (Stensvold and Farrar 2024).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

"Meadows dominated by perennial herbaceous vegetation maintained by preventing succession to dominance by woody vegetation, often associated with natural periodic disturbance such as fire and avalanche, and with anthropogenic disturbance such as ski slopes and road shoulders past dominance by annual species (Johnson 2024 cited by Stensvold and Farrar 2024).
