Taxonomic Comments
Ramsey et al. (2008) here expand the concept of Achillea borealis (= A. millefolium var. borealis) to include all native North American varieties: alpicola, arenicola, californica, gigantea, litoralis, megacephala, nigrescens, occidentalis, pacifica, and puberula. This treatment excludes the introduced A. millefolium var. millefolium, as Ramsey et al. note that "North American plants were clearly distinguished from Swedish A. millefolium var. millefolium".
