Taxonomic Comments
FNA (2023, vol. 11) treats Lotus greenei in the genus Acmispon as A. neomexicanus.

Brouillet (2020) notes that the name Acmispon greenei is superfluous, and "although Barneby (1989) included the name Lotus neomexicanus in synonymy of L. plebeius (syn. of Acmispon plebeius), I concur with the interpretation provided by Ottley (1944) that it is part of the taxon concept of L. greenei, after examination of the type photo she provides." Kartesz (1994) also treated Lotus neomexicanus as a synonym of L. plebeius, while FNA (2023, vol. 11) treats L. neomexicanus as a synonym of Acmispon neomexicanus.

Additionally, FNA (2023, vol. 11) notes, "Anisolotus greenei Wooton & Standley and Ottleya greenei (Wooton & Standley) D. D. Sokoloff are superfluous illegitimate names; Hosackia mollis Greene (1885, not Nuttall 1838), and Lotus mollis Greene (1890, not Balfour f. 1882) are illegitimate names that pertain here."
