Taxonomic CommentsWindham and Al-Shehbaz (2006) described Boechera arcuata as a species, distinct from B. sparsiflora (it had been treated as a variety of Arabis sparsiflora by Rollins (1993) and Kartesz (1994 and 1999)). Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2007a) then described B. rubicundula as a distinct species, whereas it had been included as a synonym (as A. arcuata var. rubicundula) of A. sparsiflora var. arcuata by Rollins (1993). The result is that B. arcuata in the sense accepted by FNA (2010, which follows the Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2007a) treatment) is a more narrow concept than A. sparsiflora var. arcuata sensu Rollins (1993) and Kartesz (1994, 1999). See Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2006 and 2007a) for details on how to distinguish B. arcuata from B. sparsiflora and B. rubicundula.
