Taxonomic CommentsThis record represents the narrow concept of Calliscirpus criniger. Gilmour et al. (2013) newly combine Eriophorum crinigerum (= Scirpus criniger), which is neither an Eriophorum nor a Scirpus, in a new genus, Calliscirpus. Further, this taxon is now split into two allopatric species, C. criniger comb. nov. and C. brachythrix sp. nov.
Ecology & Habitat
Habitat
Calliscirpus criniger grows in "serpentine substrates in open, fairly sparsely vegetated areas adjacent to streams or on slopes with underground seepage; alt. 200 m. to 2250 m." (Gilmour et al. 2013).
