Range Extent20,000-2,500,000 square km (about 8000-1,000,000 square miles)
Number of Occurrences21 to >300
Rank Reasons
Widely collected showing a broad distribution across California and also documented for Washington.
Range Extent Comments
The draft of the 2nd edition of The Jepson Manual (Baldwin et al. 2007) lists the bioregional distribution as southern Outer North Coast Ranges, Inner North Coast Ranges, southern Cascade Range, Sierra Nevada Foothills, central and southern High Sierra Nevada, and apparently naturalized in the northern Peninsular Ranges (Palomar Mountains). The Flora of North America (Vol. 3, 1997) also has a report for Washington, although Hickman (1993) does not mention this report.
Occurrences Comments
Precise number of distinct element occurrences is unknown, however, as of March 2007 there are 171 accession records in the Consortium of California Herbaria; 39 of these have been collected since 1970.
