Taxonomic Comments
Several species of the genus Orthocarpus were moved to the genus Castilleja, according to Kartesz' 1994 checklist. Castilleja brevistyla is probably a hybrid (Hickman 1993), but is relatively common (R. Bittman, CNDDB).
