Taxonomic Comments
This record represents Cerastium beeringianum in the narrow sense not including C. terrae-novae (when C. terrae-novae is treated as a Newfoundland endemic) following FNA (vol. 5, 2005). FNA (vol. 5, 2005) does not distinguish infraspecies within C. beeringianum. In contrast, C. beeringianum ssp. terrae-novae of Kartesz (1994, 1999) was a broad concept with distribution in Alberta, N.W.T., Nunuvut, Quebec, Labrador, and Newfoundland. Kartesz (1994, 1999) treated C. beeringianum broadly and distinguished, in addition to ssp. terrae-novae, two other subspecies: C. beeringianum ssp. beeringianum (within which the varieties var. beeringianum, var. glabratum, and var. grandiflorum were distinguished), and C. beeringianum ssp. earlei.
