Taxonomic Comments
The Conocephalum conicum complex was examined by Szweykowski et al. (2005) and determined that C. conicum s. str. is probably restricted to Europe. Borovichev et al. (2009) extend the distribution of C. conicum into European Russia. The examination of live and herbaria material recognized a new species Conocephalum salebrosum which has a wider holarctic distribution and is the species present in North America.
