Taxonomic Comments
This record is for a treatment of Crataegus iracunda that includes C. iracunda var. populnea (and C. populnea) as indistinct, as recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999). Phipps in FNA (2014, vol. 9) recognizes these as distinct species; Weakley et al. (2024) recognizes C. iracunda var. populnea as a distinct variety. In addition, there are other taxonomic differences between these treatments.
