Ecology & Habitat

Diagnostic Characteristics

Dendromecon rigida can be characterized by leaves mostly lanceolate, 3-8 times as long as wide, acuminate at apex, microscopically denticulate on margins; peduncles usually definitely surpassing the leaves; body of seed 2-2.5 mm long. (Munz, 1959)

Habitat

Rather common on dry slopes and in stony washes, below 6000 ft. elevation (Munz, 1959).

Reproduction

Flowers April-June (-Aug.); exceedingly variable (Munz, 1959).
